Maximum working hours, overtime, weekly rest and leave

Article 1 sets out the maximum duration of the workday at 8 hours per day, or 48 hours per week.

Notes

This provision does not apply to agrarian, cattle related, or domestic service work, and to those establishments in which only family members work. Article 3 of the law establishes the exceptions to the workday limits provided in this article.

The Workday Law regulates the amount of hours a worker may work per day/week, the way those hours must be distributed, the rate at which overtime shall be paid, the limit of working hours in conditions which are considered to be unhealthy, the regulation of night work, and the exceptions to said regulations.
